Jan Wijnand starts his own business, assembling kitchens and bathrooms with his team of fitters. His sons, Ernst and Jeroen, learn the trade from their father and the fitters, gaining valuable technical knowledge that is still of great value today.

The workshop is converted into a showroom, where Wijnand Keukens starts. Robert van der Zwaag joins the team and, together with Jan, Wijnand designs its first showroom. The combination offers of kitchen shop and assembly company is a great success.

March 1993 Jeroen Wijnand joins the business, together with Jan Wijnand and Robert we work hard and the business grows rapidly. Soon we need all the fitters to assemble the kitchens we have designed ourselves and stop assembling for other business.

A new, larger showroom opens with 20 high-end kitchens, including the Bulthaup brand. The team is growing rapidly, with five advisers and eight in-house fitters providing full service.

In 1998, we get the exclusive dealership for bulthaup in the Zwolle region and open a new shop at Kerkstraat 16 in Zwolle in June. Ernst then joins the business in Leek after completing his HTS and Jeroen takes charge of the branch in Zwolle. Both businesses are running fine and are continuing to develop as high-end kitchen suppliers.

Interior designer Erik Wels joins the team.

The Bulthaup Zwolle branch becomes too small and a new location is found on Assiesplein, opposite the librije and near theatre the mirror. A cooking studio has been added to the showroom where customers can cook together.

The collaboration with Italy's Modulnova is a reality.

Half of the branch in Leek is filled with Modulnova. It gives the company an extra boost and it is decided to open a Wijnand Kitchens branch in Zwolle as well.
